Background

Born in Cordoba, Spain, Jorge Gutierrez Lucena is a multimedia producer and documentary photographer currently based in Brussels, Belgium. He is specialised in international conflict and humanitarian topics, and currently works as Video and Photography Manager at the International Crisis Group, a leading INGO working to prevent and mitigate deadly violence.

His field experience spans diverse scenarios such as the humanitarian response in Ukraine, violence in Israel and Palestine, refugees in Lebanon, and armed groups in Colombia. He has worked extensively in the South Caucasus, documenting territorial conflicts in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. He has also explored the resilience of Indigenous communities in Peru and the dynamics of terrorist groups in Nigeria.

Professional Background

Before joining Crisis Group in October 2017, Jorge worked as project assistant in different organisations in the field of migration, where he also helped develop multimedia strategies. He was also involved in the production of several films and documentaries on topics ranging from migration to psychology.

Jorge holds an MA in Conflict, Security and Development from the University of Sussex, a Diploma in Mental Health and Political Violence from the Complutense University of Madrid and an MA and BA in Psychology from the University of Granada.
